Spirit of the Moment:

Spirit of the Moment Dance Ministry is a spiritually based, God fearing, and anointed dance ministry. We believe in the power of the “Holy Ghost” and “Ministering” under His unction, the saving, healing, and delivering power of Jesus Christ and that we have been chosen to dance for His glory.

Our mission is to be used as God’s vessels, to show forth His excellence and not our own as written in the bible “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Our goal is to win souls for the body of Christ, to encourage and uplift the people of God and do our part to spread the “Gospel” of Jesus.

Spirit of the Moment is a unique group of women and men that are truly bonded by the love of GOD. Our Motto is “I am my sister’s and brother’s keeper”. We are truly sisters and brothers in Christ and are blessed by the fellowship with each other.

We not only minister to others but to ourselves as well. With in the company there is youth mentorship, bible study, and charity outreach.

Spirit of the Moment Praise Dance Ministry was founded in 1982. The ministry started as dance classes which included technique in jazz, lyrical, and ballet. Before the group was named Spirit of the Moment it was named Jazzmatazz. Jazzmatazz first dance recital was in September of 1983 where they received a standing ovation for a job well done. In 1988 the group decided to hold their first dance concert entitled “Jesus is the Real Thing”. This is when the requests for the group to dance around the city begun.

somShotThe next few years were very busy with rehearsals and performances. They danced at churches, gospel concerts, schools, weddings and more. Although they always danced to gospel music, they incorporated more and more of God into the ministry. They came to realize what a spiritual uplifting their dancing brought to people and they turned their simple dance class into a dance ministry. When this change occurred, the group was then renamed Spirit of the Moment. The requirements to be a member were to be saved, at least 13 years old, have dance experience, and willing to work hard to move for God.

Along with the dance ministry, Spirit of the Moment has been showcased in numerous concerts and plays around the U.S. and in Canada which includes: T.J. Hemphill’s “Perilous Times”, and “Perilous Times II: A Game for Fools”, “Women’s Wonderful Weekend” and “Incredible Worship” sponsored by House of Prayer and Praise, “Rhythmic Nation”, “Help is on the Way” and Salathiel Allen in “Detroit Hart Plaza Gospel Festival” just to name a few. In 2006, Spirit of the Moment sponsored their first annual praise dance concert entitled “God’s Manifestation of Anointed Expressions”.

Spirit of the Moment is looking forward to growing and prospering in God through dance. Psalms 149:3 “Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp” .

Hello Spirit of the Moment dancers,
I would like to give you a big compliment on your performance with the song by Jeff Majors at your 6th annual praise dance presentation. I saw the dance on youtube published March 19, 2012, it was very moving to my soul. Your dancers moved so smoothly and gracefully, I loved the whole dance. Very powerful scripture made into a song ( Psalms 23) Please if you can tell me the specific version of the song by Jeff Majors. I listened to the album sancred, but that’s not the same version your team used, yours had extra music playing in the first 1/4 of the song. Can you help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. May God stay with you always. Thank you in advance.
