How can we hear the voice of God when it seems to be faded out by gadgets, work, hectic activities and other distracting things? Matt T. teaches us by introducing the genre of R&B and soul music to the world of worship and God’s revitalizing presence. We then realize a never-ending conversation with the Life Changing Talker.
News is beginning to spread about Matt T.’s innovative musical and vocal arrangements as the highly anticipated release date (February 26, 2011) of his debut album Secret Place draws closer. The declarative track “Psalm 24” ignites anticipation in music players and music lovers alike. Collaborations with some of the nation’s greatest and widely acknowledged musicians such as the famed drummer Chuck Norris and Tye Tribbett and GA’s former bassist Thaddeus Tribbett raises the expectancy to a level that Matt T. will be delighted to operate at.
Twenty-one year old Matthew “Matt T.” Thomas was born and raised in Queens, N.Y. and has been singing since his early years. Growing up in a West Indian home with a worship leader as a mother and a music director/guitarist as a father, it is no wonder Matthew found himself drawn to music and God. Learning to play the keyboard at the age of 8 was just the first step. Being noted as a child prodigy by surrounding musicians and singers, he slowly began to teach himself his favorite songs on the piano and sing solos at church events and in every choir he could join.
Realizing that music was more than a hobby but a calling, Matt pursued his education at Five Towns College as many great and anointed musicians have and joined Hungry 4 God to strengthen his relationship with Christ. As musical director of H4G, he quickly realized the power of worship and availed himself to God’s presence. Whether it is in front of his keyboard or on his knees in his room, he is well prepared to convert any area into his secret place.
Because of his desire for more of God, God has favored Matthew by training him to be an effective music minstrel not only as a student to Dove Award Winning Music Director and Producer Clifford Branch, but also through experience. Within the past year, he has opened for gospel music mogul Tye Tribbett and shared the stage with internationally acclaimed gospel artists Papa San, Shirley Caesar, and Mary Mary. Also, he worked as a pianist, vocalist, and musical director in various groups such as Anointed Musicians Movement and Jez’Reel. Matthew has sung behind locally recognized artist like Mark Crowder & United Praise and Jovita Sheppard & Manna. What is now coming to the light is what Matt T. has done in Secret.
